Paris Gastronomy in Christmas

As in other European capitals, Paris lives Christmas and New Year with family, usually at home, You can be around a roaring fire eating a lot more than the rest of the year. It is difficult to avoid, but certainly Christmas cuisine is simply delicious. Here, there and virtually anywhere in the world. In Paris, the city of love, you will spend a very special evening. Here are some tips.

A good typical Christmas menu  in Paris must always be preceded by a drink called Kir Royal, a traditional France cocktail served mixed with champagne. They are usually small and delicate snacks known as “mise en bouche”. A highly recommended dish for amain course are  ravioli of foie gras with truffles and chestnuts. They are a delicious bite. As for second course, a succulent lamb menu, which you must have on a Parisian holiday table, it’s  quite spicy and is accompanied with cooked vegetables. It is scrumptious. You should not miss roast turkey and blanc pudding, a white pudding very typical in any home at Christmas. And for the sweet tooth, dessert is typically a log of chocolate (“Yule Log”, “Bûche de Noël” or “Bûche Pâtissière T You should not forget Champagne. And when out there in the  cold, to warm up, Parisians often take a mulled wine flavored with cinnamon.

For the less household, those who prefer not to cook on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and rather go out to eat and dine out, one of the most successful in terms of is the “L´Espadon” restaurant  the jewel in the crown at the luxurious Ritz. Its chef, with two Michelin stars, will serve such a rich awesome meals as marinated wild salmon and crab with caviar and cucumber apple, sauteed foie gras with gingerbread, baked scallop, a stew of cock farm and then to end it all you can choose from several desserts. The French love chocolate.  This “L´Espadon” menu is around 500 euros.

It is expensive and not every budget can afford it, the fact is that there are even more expensive: dinner at the Plaza Athenee at  New Year is over  1,200 euros, and its chef, Alain Ducasse, is the chef who has more Michelin stars worldwide

We return to Christmas Eve. The Hotel Plaza offers a modest selection and above all, it is more or less affordable. We are speaking Breton lobster, filet of sole a la Vienna, rooster, cheeses and desserts. Including wine, dinner is  about 370 euros.

And for the more daring and lively, I advise a cabaret show with dinner at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. A dinner for those who will  not forget the famous French cancan dancers, in a festive environment that surely will have you hallucinating. If you have the chance to get tickets, do not miss it, tickets sell out quickly every year. It´s a luxury available only to the fastest. Come on, you´re on time!
