Conceptual art first emerged in the late 60s in response to freeing the concept of art from museums, galleries or any space or object where art is shown. Conceptual art takes the principles of the idea, not the object.

The artists of conceptual art don’t believe in art exhibitions in museums and neither have they believed in painting or sculptures. They think about going beyond the traditional art space or turning any objects into a work of art. So, the idea of art is more important than the object of the work.

The basis of this artistic movement can be found in the European Dadaist movement of the early twentieth century. Creator was Marcel Duchamp, who also invented the concept “ready-made”. A concept that is very difficult to define even for its creator and it’s based on a reaction to visual art.
The art “ready-made” is created in the mind of the artist and uses everyday objects which take the subjectivity of the artist to establish a new concept of art.

One of the most famous works was Duchamp’s urinal (see photo) which was sent to the Grand Central Gallery in New York in 1917 and was voted as the most influential work of modern art. Today this work continues to inspire thousands of artists and laying the foundations of modern art and putting the creative process that precedes the creation of the work.

Yves Klein revolutionized the French company when he exhibited his work called “Blue”. A patented colour (IKB: International Klein Blue), the extension of colour stretching to infinity in the words of a cosmic artist.

The English landscape artist Richard Long chose to revolutionize British art in England incorporating leaves, stems, stones and various materials in his work. In 1989 Richard Long won the Turner prize, one of the most prestigious competitions in modern art worldwide.

Many of these wonderful works of art are in the capital city of culture par excellence, Paris. So, if you want to take delight in them rent Paris apartments and enjoy the conceptual and avant-garde art.

What would you do if tomorrow were the last day of your life? Stop and think about it for a moment. Most people would prefer to be with people they love and tell them how important they are. But maybe others would prefer to buy a ticket for the first flight to a mysterious destination to live his/her last hours in an unknown land. What are you thinking about? I can bet a few of you are dreaming of Paris: the French capital will take you to paradise.

Life is a short, but an exciting adventure. We never think that today might be the last day, and we just live! But this question may allow us to savour every detail of our daily routine. Think about it, what would be the ideal situation or place to die? In the arms of your soul mate, lost in a mountain, on a boat in the blue horizon, or maybe at the highest point of the Eiffel Tower?

Why not climb the 1665 stairs of the “Iron Lady” and see the whole city for last time? You can also visit the Louvre and take a look at all the artworks and then sit on a terrace and watch the people walking while having a drink. Taste a culinary specialty such as snails, a cheese fondue, mussels with chips or a Quiche Lorraine. Drink a glass of red wine or French champagne and then eat a small piece of cake to digest it all. One of the most fascinating and strange visits would be going to the famous Père Lachaise cemetery. It is the largest in Paris, where people like Edith Piaf, Marcel Proust, Molière, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde are buried. This is a place where meditation surrounded by nature is more than possible.

Remember the best moments of your life, seek the peace, telling people what you’ve never dared to say, rob a bank, be a kamikaze… All desires are legitimate and you can choose anything. Now that’s what I call a real luxury!

Choose the French capital in your list of cities you have to visit once in your life! The charm and magic of Paris can be a wonderful idea to spend the last day of your life. Rent apartments in Paris and spend unforgettable nights in the city of lights. And of course, Carpe Diem!
